Organic cotton is softer, more breathable and much less likely to trigger allergies and eczema since there are no harmful chemicals against your skin.
No poisonous pesticides are used in the growing of organic cotton so farmers can work in a much healthier environment and receive a better price for their crop.
Organic cotton uses much less water than is used to grow conventional or GM cotton, often using only rainfall to grow the plants.
Organic Brushed Fleece Cotton
We have added in this new brushed organic cotton jersey for winter which has a soft jersey outer and brushed fleece inside. It has less drape and more structure to create a soft and warm alternative to our regular cotton for cold winter days.
Organic Exchange – 100 Standard / Blended Standard
An area of key importance to the growth of the organic fiber industry is the development of standards to support organic claims. While there are numerous standards to support full product claims , there have not been any to support fiber-only claims. Organic Exchange has stepped in to deal with this gap by working with experts from around the globe to develop the OE Blended and OE 100 Standard, documenting the purchase, handling and use of 100% certified organic cotton fiber in yarns, fabrics and finished goods. The OE Blended Standard is for tracking and documenting the purchase, handling and use of certified organically farmed cotton fiber in blended yarns, fabrics and finished goods. The standard applies to all goods containing a minimum of 5% organic cotton.
GOTS (Global Organic Standard)
GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. The aim of the standard is to define world-wide recognized requirements that ensure organic status of textiles, from harvesting of the raw materials, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing up to labeling in order to provide a credible assurance to the end consumer.
